Boy Scout Troop 1861 was established at Newman Church in 2002. It is the only active troop in the city of Pontiac for boys aged eleven to eighteen years old. We invite you to join us on Saturday from 12:00 p.m.–1:00 p.m. here at Newman Church where we prepare to build tomorrow's leaders. Our troop members are actively learning about their environment, their community, being a good citizen, etc. We aim to promote good morals and strong character so that our boys are ready to serve and make wise choices in today's society.
Our troop participates in three major campouts annually, educational field trips, the Pontiac Christmas Parade, collecting food goods for the Gleaners Food Bank, and other fun activities.
The eagle rank is the highest level of achievement a scout can obtain before his eighteenth birthday. In order to do so, a scout MUST complete a minimum of twenty-one merit badges approved by the Boy Scouts of America Board.
For additional information, please contact the scout master, Brother Ray Roberts at 810-602-9755 or Newman Church.
